VIENTIANE, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has called for all stakeholders to increase their responsibility in properly caring for, developing and protecting children, to create an environment that enables them to enjoy their childhood.

In his message to mark International Children's Day, which falls on June 1, the premier urged the ruling party and state organizations, mass organizations, private and state businesses and parents to show greater responsibility in nurturing children.

More care and concern would enable children, the future of the nation, to reach their full potential and become productive citizens who would contribute to the country's development.

Every year, the party and state take the occasion of International Children's Day to review the implementation of their guidelines and policies concerning children, according to local daily Vientiane Times report on Friday.

The premier stressed the need to continue to raise awareness of the importance of children's issues so that all stakeholders contribute appropriately to the development, protection and care of children.
