UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- In the strongest multilateral stand for women and girls in 30 years, 106 governments from all regions have stepped forward with 191 commitments to accelerate progress for all women and girls by 2030, UN Women said Friday.

Launched by UN Women on Friday, the Beijing+30 Priority Actions Dashboard showcases governments' voluntary commitments to women's rights and demonstrates that gender equality remains a rallying force for multilateralism.

Ahead of the High-level Week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), the world reaffirms that gender equality is the foundation of peace, justice and human rights for all, UN Women said in a press release.

"This act of showing up for the rights of women and girls affirms a powerful truth: gender equality remains a unifying force for the world. And multilateralism is still committed to delivering an equal world for all women and girls," said Sima Bahous, UN Women executive director.

According to UN Women, one in three commitments submitted by the 106 governments focuses on ending violence against women and girls, and 46 governments explicitly grounded their actions in international agreements, such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Other commitments include efforts to transform discriminatory social norms, increased financing for gender equality, gender data and accountability, and collaboration with feminist or women's rights organizations.

A high-level meeting of the UNGA on the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women will take place on Sept. 22, bringing together world leaders at the United Nations for a once-in-a-generation opportunity to act on their promises to women and girls, 30 years after the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action -- the most visionary global agreement on gender equality, according to UN Women.

The Beijing+30 Priority Actions Dashboard is a one-stop, digital platform that makes governments' voluntary commitments to the Beijing+30 Action Agenda, a UN initiative led by UN Women, visible and trackable, providing real-time, up-to-date data on where countries stand in fulfilling their pledges, ensuring accountability and transparency.
