XI'AN, China, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Leonardo scored twice to help Shanghai Port see off Wuhan Three Towns 3-2 in a 26th round Chinese Super League (CSL) game as the defending champion got back to the top of the league.
When facing Wuhan Three Towns, Li Shuai helped Shanghai Port take an 1-0 lead from close range after collecting Liu Ruofan's pass in the 38th minute. However, the 2022 season CSL champion rallied with goals from Zhong Jinbao in the 77th minute and Gustavo Sauer in the 80th minute.
Then Leonardo equalized from close range following Kuai Jiwen's pull-back in five minutes. Before the final whistle, the Brazilian striker made the defending champion move ahead with a low shot.
In another match held on Friday, Shanghai Port's title rival Chengdu Rongcheng suffered a setback after a 3-3 draw with Zhejiang FC.
Chengdu bagged three goals in 40 minutes, but Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere pulled one back for Zhejiang in the 45th minute and Yago Cariello's header narrowed the gap to one before the break.
Yago's last-gasp goal helped Zhejiang salvage a point and keep its Asia stage hopes alive.
In other CSL games, Qingdao West Coast edged Shenzhen Peng City 2-1, Beijing Guoan beat Dalian Yingbo 4-2, Changchun Yatai tied Qingdao Hainiu 2-2, Tianjin Jinmen Tigers defeated Henan FC 1-0, and Shanghai Shenhua smashed Meizhou Hakka 6-1. ■
