HEFEI, March 18 (Xinhua) -- East China's Anhui Province plans to put in place 180,000 charging poles by 2020 to meet the rising demand for new-energy vehicles (NEVs), local authorities have said.

According to a transport structure adjustment plan released last week, the province aims to sell 150,000 of NEVs in total and build a further 500 public battery swap stations by 2020.

The charging poles and battery swap stations will be mainly set up at logistics parks, industrial parks, shopping malls and wholesale farmers markets, the plan says.

A total of 80 percent of added or renewed delivery vehicles will include NEVs and ones that meet the stricter State VI emissions standard, which is equivalent to the Euro VI standard, in the cities of the province by 2020, according to the plan.

Under China's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), the country will build a nationwide charging station network to fulfill the demand of powering 5 million NEVs by 2020.
