ISLAMABAD, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday to discuss the situation arising out of India's decision to revoke the special status to the India-controled Kashmir.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who received his Saudi Arabian and UAE counterparts on arrival here, said he will brief the two foreign ministers about Pakistan's stance on the Indian government's decision.

Qureshi and the two foreign ministers will hold official talks at the foreign ministry later on Wednesday to discuss the "critical situation" in the Indian-controlled Kashmir, Qureshi's office said.

A statement from the office said that diplomatic contacts have increased among the Islamic countries after the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) adopted a clear stance on Kashmir.

"The visit of the Saudi and UAE ministers is part of this initiative," the statement said.

The Saudi Arabian and UAE foreign ministers will also hold meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa during their day-long stay in Pakistan.

Qureshi told the media on Wednesday Pakistan is in contact through diplomatic and backdoor channels with a number of Islamic countries as part of its efforts to garner support on the Kashmir crisis.

Tensions heightened between Pakistan and India after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution by India over the India-controlled Kashmir. Pakistan downgraded diplomatic ties, suspended trade relations and stopped train services with India as a reaction to the India decision.
