Turkish and Russian troops carried a third joint patrol mission on armored vehicles in Syria along the border with Turkey.

MOSCOW, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces have started daily air patrols in Northern Syria, Russian Defense Ministry said Friday.

"The main objective of the missions is to ensure security in the patrolled areas, as well as to escort military police convoys," Russian military pilot Dmitry Ivanov said in a video posted by Zvezda, the ministry's broadcasting service.

Air patrols are carried out in several directions by pairs of helicopters at an altitude of 50-60 meters, he said.

Zvezda added that Russian Aerospace Forces conducted Thursday another air patrol mission in northern Syria.

It said in a separate report that Turkish and Russian troops carried Friday a third joint patrol mission on armored vehicles in Syria along the border with Turkey.

Joint patrols are carried out in accordance with agreements reached on Oct. 22 between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
